چکیده
The purpose of this study was to determine the effective-ness of vision therapy (VT) in the treatment of sympto-matic convergence insufficiency (CI). Symptomatic CIsubjects were given 10 sessions of 60 minutes of in-office VT (IVT) followed by 30 minutes of home visiontherapy (HVT) per day for 3 months. Near exophoria, near point of convergence (NPC) break and near positivefusional vergence (PFV) break were the primary outcomemeasures which were reviewed after IVT and at the endof three consecutive months of HVT. Out of 29 subjectsrecruited (age 23.9 + 7 years [mean + SD]; range 9–39years), 10 have completed the 3-month follow-up visit,8 were in the HVT phase, 6 were in the IVT phase and 5were lost to follow-up. There was a significant improve-ment in the primary outcome measures at the end of 3months. The near exophoria improved to 4.0D from7.0D, NPC from 11.0 to 5.0 cm and PFV from 16.0D to45D after VT. The success rate was 80% after IVT and90% at the end of 3-month follow-up visit. IVT combinedwith HVT is very effective in treating CI.

متن کاملBilateral Proliferative Retinopathy as the Initial Presentation of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
The authors report a rare case of a 48-year-old male with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) who initially presented with a bilateral proliferative retinopathy. The patient complained of recent visual loss and floaters in both eyes (BE). Ophthalmologic evaluation revealed a best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 20/50 in the right eye and 20/200 in the left eye (LE). Fundoscopy showed the presence ...
